KEVIN Level 2 Multi Skills Student Story

I am currently a level 2 multi skills’ student; I achieved my level 1 at Sutton District Training last year.

Last year I covered 3 different trades, Painting and Decorating, Tiling and Carpentry.

I really enjoyed doing the tiling as I like everything to look good, tidy and to be colourful.

This year on my level 2 programme I am carrying out advanced Painting and Decorating and Tiling.

In my painting unit I have had to match in a pattern paper within a tolerance of 3mm with no hairline gaps between each piece of wallpaper, I have hung lining paper before but found this one harder to match in the pattern to continue around and in corners.

So far on my tiling unit I have learnt how to cut holes in tiles to allow pipework to run through and to set out a pattern of mixed tiles to gain a decorative panel.

I have made more improvements to my skills this year as my tutor will push me to achieve higher levels and improve the standards of the work that I produce.

I really enjoy being at Sutton and District Training as I know it will help me to find a job within the construction industry and it has taught me a wider range of life skills so that I will be an excellent employee.

The staff here are very helpful they give me good advice and guidance and help me overcome any problems I may have and to help me succeed.

Working in the construction industry is very rewarding, interested?
